Conditions of the “Relative Grading System”
The Raw Success Score is calculated by taking 40% of the midterm grade and 60% of the final exam grade.
Students whose raw success score is below 35 receive an FF grade, regardless of their final exam score.
Students must score at least 45 points on the final exam. Those who score below 45 automatically receive FF, regardless of the relative grading outcome.
In make-up (resit) exams, a separate relative grading calculation is not performed.
Students who take the make-up exam are evaluated according to the relative grading rules determined during the final exam period.
If the letter grade obtained through the absolute grading system is higher than that obtained through the relative grading system, the higher (absolute) grade is assigned.
For example, if a student scores 70 on both the midterm and the final, and the relative grading result yields a “CB”, the student will instead receive a “BB”, which corresponds to the absolute grading system.
The relative grading system is not applied to courses with fewer than 11 students.
In such cases, the absolute grading system is used.
However, if courses are officially combined and the total number of students reaches 11 or more, relative grading is applied.
